UNTITLED

A National Art Committee Poem

The Bourgeoisie walk by.
Tendrils of flowers, moss, bark, reeds
dissolved to their essence

Charcoal, ash from burned leaves of christened
forest corners-- honest scents
legitimize the appropriately indulgent flourish of scarves,
Just so
petals, rustic patterns, thatch-like emblems, even
sombre tones spirit away
our sad city pavement in the gesture of passing
camouflage the non-eternal, the mere here and now

The Bourgeoisie are honest, Natural

They are not mechanical, contrived, native to one
place, enshrined in
superstition, myopic

They are constantly fixed in an eternal act of
self-creation, retroactively
legitimated by Nature and the Spirit
Spirits dissolve the potpourri of
woodland glades, the wilderness
where the Bourgeoisie would flourish as in any
desert

Melting the snow with first glance
coaxing foliage from the bedrock of the town
a post here
a lintel there
a small nod to the stirring thistle
A glance slowly upward
wind bustling through wheat fields
whispering
to be
