Art Book Swap New York #1, May 19, 2007

The New Art Dealers Alliance (NADA) and Regency Arts Press Ltd., will be co-sponsoring an art book swap in Chelsea on Saturday, May 19th from Noon to 6pm. The swap will be held outdoors on West 27th Street between 11th and 12th Avenues. art book swap will be simple in practice: people will bring art-related books and swap their books for other books.

The event will be participatory, cooperative and enterprising. Chelsea on a Saturday afternoon is always a hub of social activity and interaction. art book swap will symbiotically engage with this activity, in addition to accomplishing a number of goals:

* Inject social energy into inherently private pursuits (reading, book collecting)
* Create an interconnecting network of information and interchange between strangers
* Reshape an untold number of private book collections by reenergizing them with new materials and topics

All books that remain at the end of the swap will be donated to the Prisoners Reading Encouragement Project, a wonderful program that brings a variety of books into New York City prison libraries, where they are so badly needed.

art book swap is open to the public. Visitors can either participate by bringing books to swap (one for one) at no charge or pay $5 to choose up to three books, $10 to choose up to six books, $15 to choose up to nine books, etc. Regency Arts Press Ltd. will also have their artists books available for sale.

About the New Art Dealers Alliance (NADA)

Founded in 2002, New Art Dealers Alliance (NADA) is a not-for-profit collective of professionals working with contemporary art. Our mission is to create an open flow of information, support and collaboration within our field and to develop a stronger sense of community among our constituency. Our initiatives have succeeded on two fronts: making the contemporary arts more accessible to the general public, and creating opportunities that nurture the growth of emerging artists, curators and galleries.
